Mass of Christian Burial for Francis “Fran” Sturm, 75, of Minneota, will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 28, 2025, at St. Edward Catholic Church in Minneota. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Interment with military honors will follow the service at St. Edward Catholic Cemetery. Military honors provided by U.S. American Legion Post 199 of Minneota and VFW Post 5334.
Francis George Sturm was born on June 5, 1950, in Clarkfield, MN, to Alphonse and Ann (Sussner) Sturm. The family lived in a few places while Fran grew up, most of his time was in Minneota and he graduated from Minneota High School. Fran served in the U.S. Marine Corps including time in Okinawa, Japan. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Minneota. Fran attended vocational technical school for auto mechanic service and auto body repair. Fran was united in marriage to Joanne Larson and the couple was married for 34 years. He worked as a Truck Driver for many years.
Fran loved the outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing and vegetable gardening. He was a gunsmith and obtained his Federal Fire Arms License. Fran was an active member of St. Edward Catholic Church and the VFW Post 5334 and was Past Commander of the American Legion Post 199 of Minneota.
Fran died on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at the Clarkfield Care Center in Clarkfield, MN. He is survived by his wife, Joanne, currently of Clarkfield, step-children Steven, Cindy and Stacy; siblings Theresa (Gordon) Compton of Mankato, Carol (Steven) Sonnek of Cologne, Louise (Paul) Sturm-Hendrycks of Mankato, brother-in-law John “Butch” Morgan of Texas and sister-in-law Julianne Sturm of Maple Plain, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Agnes Morgan and brothers James “Jim” Sturm and Gerard “Jerry” Sturm.
