Mass of Christian Burial for Eugene Archie Regnier, 93, of Dovray will take place on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy, MN beginning at 10:30 a.m. A public visitation will begin one hour prior to the funeral mass. A funeral luncheon will take place at church following the funeral mass. Private family burial will take place at the Walnut Grove Cemetery Saturday afternoon. 

 

Eugene Archie Regnier was born on August 16, 1930, to Louise (Blanchette) and Archie Regnier in Mankato, MN. He grew up on a farm south of Marshall. He completed the eighth grade and then began working on the farm. He was drafted into the United States Army on February 15, 1952, and served during the Korean Conflict until his discharge on November 15, 1953. 

 

Upon his discharge from the Army, Gene returned to southwest Minnesota and farmed west of Tracy for five years. He moved to Tracy in 1962 where he met and fell in love with Virginia Weinzetl and her six children. The couple was married on May 3, 1963, in Brookings, SD. Gene worked for the city of Tracy until 1971 when he then moved to Cottage Grove, MN. Once in Cottage Grove he worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for the city. Gene retired and moved to Dovray, MN in 1993. 

 

Gene had many hobbies throughout his life. He enjoyed woodworking and could often be found working in his shop. He had a green thumb and would take care of many flowerbeds in Dovray. Gene’s faith and family was important to him. He would help his son-in-law on the farm and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. 

 

Gene died on Monday, April 15, 2024, at the Westbrook Good Samaritan Society. 

 

He is survived by his children Catherine Dallenbach, Tim Weinzetl, Jeff (Tammy) Weinzetl, Joe (Jan) Weinzetl, Sara Anderson; daughters-in-law Judy Weinzetl and Brenda Weinzetl; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. 

 

Gene is preceded in death by his wife Virginia; parents Archie and Louise Regnier; sons Keith Weinzetl and Tom Weinzetl; son-in-law Richard Dallenbach, daughter-in-law Peggy Weinzetl; all of his siblings.

 

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Humane Society and the Minnesota DNR.
