Eric John Boerboom was born on February 23, 1984, in Marshall, to Dennis and Dawn (Vandeputte) Boerboom. He grew up in Marshall, graduated from Marshall High School and earned a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree from Southwest Minnesota State University with a Major in Rural, Regional, and Environmental Studies.
Although Eric faced many challenges in his life, he remained an optimistic young man. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit. Eric’s hopeful demeanor was contagious. He was charismatic, loved to talk, and enjoyed many activities including hanging around with friends, going to concerts, and traveling. He also enjoyed boating and time at the lake. Eric looked forward to lunches with Grandma, playing games, shopping, listening to music and going to church. Above all else, he enjoyed making people laugh. He could enter a room and brighten it with his smile, his attitude, or just his presence.
Eric passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, December 23, 2018, at Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center in Marshall. He is survived by his Parents, Dennis and Dawn(Vandeputte) Boerboom of Marshall, Brother Brent Boerboom (and Dr. Alissa Redding) of Glenwood, Grandmother Donna Vandeputte of Marshall, aunts, uncles, cousins and their families and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his Grandparents Gerald and Marian Boerboom and Eugene Vandeputte, Uncle Jeff Vandeputte, Cousins Austin Boerboom and Mitchell Grierson, and special treasured friend and companion Isabell his cat .
Eric’s life wasn’t about waiting for the storm to pass. It was about learning to dance in the rain.
