Dorothy Yochem

Dorothy Mae ( Schmidt) Yochem was born on December 3, 1943, in Tyler, MN, to Elmer and Marie (Nicholsen) Schmidt. In 1977, she started working at the Wooden Nickel in Marshall. During her 37 years of employment, she made numerous friends and was affectionately referred to as “Ma.” Her favorite past-times included playing bingo, going to the casino and watching the Twins. Please wear your jeans, that what “Ma” would’ve wanted. Dorothy died on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at the Pipestone County Hospice Home after a courageous battle with many health ailments. She is survived by her children Keith (and Rhonda) Yochem of Pipestone, Kevin Yochem of Marshall, Carol (and Joe) Muller of Red Wing, grandson Dustin Muller of Red Wing, granddaughters Lauren and Sara Yochem of Pipestone, many nieces and nephews and special friend, Jim Obe of Minneota. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother William Schmidt and sisters Helen Rogge, Mayrleen Bankord and Carolyn Karels.
