Dorothy YochemDorothy Mae ( Schmidt) Yochem was born on December 3, 1943, in Tyler, MN, to Elmer and Marie (Nicholsen) Schmidt. In 1977, she started working at the Wooden Nickel in Marshall. During her 37 years of employment, she made numerous friends and was affectionately referred to as âMa.â Her favorite past-times included playing bingo, going to the casino and watching the Twins. Please wear your jeans, that what âMaâ wouldâve wanted. Dorothy died on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at the Pipestone County Hospice Home after a courageous battle with many health ailments. She is survived by her children Keith (and Rhonda) Yochem of Pipestone, Kevin Yochem of Marshall, Carol (and Joe) Muller of Red Wing, grandson Dustin Muller of Red Wing, granddaughters Lauren and Sara Yochem of Pipestone, many nieces and nephews and special friend, Jim Obe of Minneota. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother William Schmidt and sisters Helen Rogge, Mayrleen Bankord and Carolyn Karels.
Your have are deepest sympathy! Dorthy babysat for Jim when he was a young boy 55ys or more ago..I (Pam) worked with her at the Wooden Nickel back in it's hay days from 1977-1983..She was a great story teller, friend and hard worker..Blessed be her memory!

I worked with Dorothy and Carol at the Wooden Nickel in the late 80's. She was a wonderful woman and a great cook!! My sympathy to her family!!

I worked with Ma at the Nickel and enjoyed playing bingo with her on Saturdays at the Legion. She will forever have a special place in my heart. My prayers for you all.
