Delorse Mary (Lacek) Lamote was born on August 19, 1942, in Hansonville Township, Lincoln County, to John and Frances (Bukowski) Lacek. She spent her early years on the family farm near Hendricks where she attended country school through 8th grade. Delorse graduated from Marshall High School in 1961. On June 20, 1962, she was united in marriage to Leo “Sonny” Lamote at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. The couple spent their entire married lives on the Lamote family farm in rural Balaton where they worked side-by-side growing crops, raising livestock, and running a dairy operation all while growing their family and creating a home. After raising her family, Delorse worked at BH Electronics and Habilitative Services Inc. (HSI) in Marshall. She was especially passionate about and proud of her work at HSI where she served adults with disabilities. In 2012, Delorse was nominated and recognized for going above and beyond in supporting “her guys” at HSI.

Delorse loved life, family gatherings, being silly with Sonny and making people laugh. She enjoyed flowers, plants, birds, dancing, cooking, fishing, Rolle Bolle, and just being with people. Most importantly, she was a compassionate and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who cherished time seeing and visiting with family and friends. She greeted everyone with her beautiful smile and warm personality. She was a selfless caregiver, full of love and loving life, who would do anything for anyone and who never had a bad word to say. She lived a life of service to others, well beyond her own family. She had a kind heart and she was the heart of our family. We miss you, we love you, and we will always remember that “hugs are free”.

After a brief illness with colon cancer, Delorse died peacefully on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at home in rural Balaton. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Sonny, of rural Balaton; children Larry (Peggy) Lamote of Marshall, Laurie (Mark) Templeton of Tracy, Lisa (Kevin) Roberts of Byron, Lance (Peach) Lamote of Tyler, Lonny (Julie) Lamote of Farmington, LuAnn (Thad) Lessman of Tracy, Lyle (Mel) Lamote of Tyler; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; brother Donnie Lacek of Shakopee, sisters-in-law Joyce (Myron) Knofczynski and Theresa Lacek, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Lee and Ray.
