David “Dave” Wilfred Schroeder was born on December 2, 1930, in Underwood Township in Redwood County, to Cyril and Godelieva (Dero) Schroeder. He grew up and attended school in Marshall. On April 15, 1950, Dave was united in marriage to Eldora Pechan at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. The couple made their home and raised their four children in Marshall. Dave worked at the Marshall Fur Farm for a time before beginning a 35 year career at Marshall Decorating, working for his brother Walt Schroeder. He was an interior decorating tradesman, excelling at painting and tiling.

In his free time, Dave enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting, and gardening. He was a lifetime member of the Redwood River Sportsman’s Club and the Knights of Columbus. He was a dedicated member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. More than anything else, Dave loved time spent with family. He took many lake trips with both immediate and extended family. He also enjoyed going to the casino, where he always claimed to get lucky. In the last year, Dave embraced his transition to Heritage Pointe Senior Living, where he enjoyed their weekly outings and activities, as well as social time with other residents and staff.

Dave died on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at the Avera Granite Falls Care Center. He is survived by his children Dave (Marcia) of Marshall, Mike (Lil) of Marshall, Greg (Carla) of Elk River, and Julieann (Michael McCarney) of Plymouth; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; siblings Walt (Liz) Schroeder of Marshall and Pat Lustfield of Pipestone; sisters-in-law Donna Schroeder of Marshall, Carolyn Meiners of Marshall, and Garnita (Thomas II) Cross of St. Francis; as well as many other relatives and friends.
