Clinton (Clint) Merle Gregg

d. February 16, 2016

Clint was born on April 17, 1929 to William “Bill” and Ruella (Alleckson) Gregg. He spent his life in Lyon County living in several small towns in the area, attending school in those towns. He and his brothers were always busy doing something, some of which, might not have always been legal. They were tough and the three youngest were buddies. Clint attended Marshall High School for a while, a smart student but not too interested in school, he left at sixteen and started driving truck at that age. Clint and Sherlee Bump were married on November 5, 1949 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall, MN. Clint inherited a whole bunch of relations when he became a Bump family member and they all liked him a lot. He also had many truck driving friends and I doubt many people disliked him. Every place Clint worked he was a valued employee, every truck he ever drove was cared for like his own. He drove for Marshall Fruit Company for many years, Midwest Coast was his first over-the-road job. He worked for Speedway Moving, Dan Dugan Transport, was a lead driver for Schwan’s for over twenty years, retiring in 1991. On retirement he still worked doing part-time driving for LME and Donnie Brewers, Olson and Johnson and Helena Chemical for over ten years. Clint also worked at Super America opening early mornings and in the past hauled papers for the Independent. He drove truck for over sixty years, and although a cancer survivor, he was driving until he was eighty years old. He was active at the Senior Center, served as Treasurer and received his GED there, complete with a cap and gown, of which he was very proud of. In the early 80’s he joined Sherlee, Joe and John as a Ham Radio operator. His call sign was NOIRA. Clinton died at the Minneota Manor where he a resident since April of 2015. His best friends. were caregivers, Maria and Yolanda, they were angels to him and Sherlee. Many other staff took care of him and that care will never be forgotten. Clint is survived by his wife, Sherlee; his sons, Joe (Linda) and John (Stacy); his two special friends, both named Deb; five grandsons; three granddaughters; four great-granddaughters; two sisters and one brother. Preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law, four brothers, a sister, two brothers-in-law and several truck driving friends As someone leaves this earth new babies are born so life continues its cycle. Enjoy life and take time to smell the roses and try to help others. That is the kind of man Clint was. Remember him with a smile and as he would want you to do. Heaven gets a good man. . . . .
