Clarence Joseph Louwagie

Clarence Joseph Louwagie was born on December 18, 1946, in Marshall, to Rene and Bertha (Meulebroeck) Louwagie. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Central Catholic High School in Marshall in 1964. Clarence enlisted and served in the National Guard. On May 24, 1969, he was united in marriage to Patricia Laleman at St. Edward Catholic Church in Minneota. The couple farmed and raised their family in rural Cottonwood. Clarence enjoyed fishing, golfing, wood working, playing cards and gardening. He also enjoyed watching westerns, especially if they were in black and white. The couple belonged to a rolle bolle club and card clubs. He enjoyed spending time with his family and riding around in his golf cart with his grandchildren. After recovering from injuries sustained in a tractor/train accident 12 years ago, Clarence retired from full time farming. The couple enjoyed traveling, camping and wintering at “Bit O Heaven” in Donna, Texas. Clarence was a member of the American Legion Post 113 Honor Guard. After a lengthy battle with COPD, Clarence died peacefully on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, surrounded by his family at Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center in Marshall. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, of Cottonwood; son Terry (and Jackie) Louwagie of Ham Lake, grandchildren Elisabeth, Erin and Elijah; daughter Karen (and Travis) Jackson of Woonsocket, SD, grandchildren Daniel, Joseph and Alicia; son Darin (and Heidi) Louwagie of Cottonwood, grandchildren Skylar, Sawyer and Soren; daughter Renae (and John) Robbins of Sioux Falls, SD, grandchildren Jadyn and Alexa; daughter Amber (and Brad) DeBriyn of Altoona, WI, grandchildren Audrey and Sophie; daughter Leiah Louwagie (fiancé Matt Engesser) of Sioux Falls, SD; sister Mary (and Dan) Yarusso of Hugo, niece and nephews Danielle (and Shawn) Prom, Michael and David and other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
