Clarence Boogaard was born on August 20, 1928, in Butler, MN, to George and Johanna (Ruys) Boogaard. Clarence served in the U.S. Army from 1950 â 1952 during the Korean War. In 1953, he was united in marriage to Yvonne Scott. To this union were born five children: Danny, Steve, Diane, Laurie and Cheryl. Clarence worked for his brother Albertâs business in Minneota after the service. Clarence then worked at the bus garage in Minneota for a few years. He then began a 30 year career working for McLaughlin & Schulz, retiring in 1992. Clarence enjoyed collecting a variety of items including salt & pepper shakers and lighted Christmas houses. He was a member of the U.S. American Legion Post 199 of Minneota.
Clarence died on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at the St. Maryâs Care Center in Winsted, MN. He is survived by his children Danny (JoAnn) Boogaard of Lakeland, Steve(Nancy) Boogaard of Marshall, Diane (Duane) Odenbrett of Lester Prairie, Laurie Boogaard of Lester Prairie and Cheryl Boogaard of Lester Prairie, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Con, Helen, Marie, Albert, John, Henry, Wilma, Bill.
