Carter Joseph Boerboom was born on May 16, 2001, in Marshall to Wade Boerboom and Susan (Emmons.) He was baptized at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and attended Holy Redeemer Catholic School. Carter enjoyed playing and watching basketball. He played for Holy Redeemer School, Marshall Hoops, the Southwest Slam and the Minnesota Heat. He was an avid Duke Blue Devils and Golden State Warriors fan. Each of these teams won a championship this year and that provided Carter with a much needed boost while he received medical treatments. He also enjoyed lake activities including fishing, jet skiing, four wheeling, boating and inner-tubing. He liked hanging out with his friends and family and cruising around Savannah Oaks in his golf cart. In December, 2013, Carter was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma. After a long and courageous battle with this cancer, Carter died on Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at the Sanford Childrenâs Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, surrounded by friends and family.
