Bernice Helen DeSaer was born on December 8, 1924, in Marshall, Minnesota to Camiel August and Julienne Marie (Strubbe) DeSaer in Marshall.
On September 17, 1946 Bernice was united in marriage to James Edwin Minnehan in Green Valley, Minnesota. They moved from Green Valley in 1952 and farmed around the Minneota area. In 1973, they moved to Minneota. In August 2003, Bernice moved to Marshall and in November 2011 she returned to Minneota and resided at the Madison Avenue Apartments and Minneota Manor.
Bernice enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, bingo and shaking dice. When she was able she enjoyed watching her grandchildrenâs sports.
She died on Sunday, October 18, 2015, at the Minneota Manor in Minneota.
Bernice is survived by five children: Dennis (June) Minnehan of Owatonna, Pat (Dale) Maranell of Luverne, Sharon (Steve) Enstad of Granite Falls, Steve (Sue) Minnehan of Willmar and Kevin (Sandy) Minnehan of Minneota. Grandchildren: Dawn (Kevin) Hemann, Amy (Jeff) Swiatkiewicz, Mark (Heidi) Maranell, Wendy (Anton) Towne, Sara (Roy) Gjerde, Derek (Andrea) Minnehan, Isaac Minnehan (Fiance Tiffany Meyer), Brad (Robyn) Minnehan and Brooke (Trent) Hennen. Great-grandchildren: Christopher (Amber) Boettcher, Natasha (Fiance Joe Nankivil) and Garrett Hemann, Bryce, Alex and Alyssa Swiatkiewicz, Eden, Carter and Delaney Maranell, Xavier, Zachary, Gavyn and Sydney Towne, Hadley, Aksel, Sena and Torger Gjerde, Garrett and Ivy Minnehan and Madison, Parker and Mason Minnehan along with many other relatives and friends.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Jim in December 2002, parents, sisters Anne Van Hauwaert and Margaret Van Maldeghem and brothers Dennis DeSaer, Jerome DeSaer, Walter DeSaer and Julius DeSaer.
