Arla Jean (Anderson) Boe was born on August 7, 1932, in Hazel Run, MN, to Philemon and Ella (Hanson) Anderson. Arla grew up in Hazel Run and graduated from Hanley Falls High School. On May 5, 1951, Arla was united in marriage to Wynston Boe in Hazel Run. The couple moved to Granite Falls and Cottonwood before settling in Minneota in 1969. Arla worked as a bookkeeper for Minneota Public Schools for many years. She was a bookkeeper at MGT until her retirement. In her retirement, Arla helped at the Minneota Countryside Golf Club, where she wore many hats. She could be found cooking, cleaning, bartending, and waitressing, always with a smile on her face.
Arla was well known for her doughnuts, which she made for every occasion. She also enjoyed making lefse every year for Thanksgiving and Christmas for her many family members and friends. Arla was passionate about the Church her whole life. Arla was very involved in Hope Lutheran Church, making her famous doughnuts with their Sunday morning coffee. She was blessed with five children, thirteen grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren for whom she was grateful. She enjoyed making special treats for the grandchildren and attending their sporting events. Arla was an avid Minnesota and Minneota Vikings fan.
Arla died Friday, January 18, 2019 at the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center. She is survived by her children, Wendy Larson of Minneota, Sheree Obe of Minneota, Brian Boe of Chandler, AZ, Pamela (and Mike) Hennen of Minneota, Robin (and Steve) Traen of Minneota; grandchildren Jesse (and Brandi) Larson, of Shakopee, Alisha Larson of Austin, TX, Breanne Larson of Minneota, Travis Obe of Saint Louis Park, Tenille Obe of Winter Park, CO, Macy Boe of Austin, TX, Lucy Boe of Houston, TX, Brandon (and Angie) Hennen of Minneota, Cassi (and Matt) Hodder of Byron, Hayley (and Cody) Fruin of Cottonwood, Jake (and Bridget) Traen of Maple Grove, and Faith Traen of Minneota; great-grandchildren Tolan and Evan Larson; Dakoda, Nevaeh and Braxton Hennen; Charlotte, Monroe, and Lennyn Hodder; Weston Fruin; and Flynn, LucyAnn, and Joshua Traen; sister Doris Bjornstad of Moorhead; brother-in-law Kim Boe of Cottonwood; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Phil and Ella; husband Wynston; sister Lola Emery and brother Verdell Anderson; sons-in-law Paul Larson and Randy Obe; and grandson Taylor Obe.
Everyone is invited to wear Minneota Vikings apparel to the visitation and prayer service on Tuesday night in Arlaâs memory.
