Amy Darlene Myhre was born on November 30, 1960, at the Tyler, MN, Hospital to Johnny and Thora (Jensen) Myhre of Minneota. Amy was baptized and confirmed at the Hope Lutheran Church in Minneota, MN. Amy attended school in Ghent, Minneota, Canby and Montevideo and graduated from the special education program from Montevideo Public School.
Amy grew up in Minneota on the family farm and loved living there with all the animals, especially her cats and dogs. Amy was the youngest of six children and lived with her parents and siblings. She had a very outgoing, warm, friendly and loving personality and was a big inspiration to all of her family and friends. Amy usually was the center of attention because of her personality. She always had big hugs to give. Amy enjoyed going to all the sports and 4-H events that her brothers and sisters participated in. Amyâs favorite request was to go for Hamburgers and French Fries. (Her dad could not resist her requests.) Annual trips to the MN State Fair and Como Park were big on Amyâs agenda. She enjoyed traveling with her family on many trips and going to visit grandparents, aunts and uncles.
Amy has lived in Marshall, at the Central H.S.I. Group Home for about 25 years. She enjoyed her long time roommates and many staff persons that have cared for her for many years. Amy attended the DAC in Marshall and Canby. She was a super cleaner. Amy enjoyed participating in Special Olympics for many years in bowling, swimming and softball on the state, regional, and local level. She was very proud of her many trophies, medals and ribbons. She loved playing bingo and bowling during the outings with H.S.I. Central Group Home.
Amyâs birthday, November 30th, was always a special day to her. Each year, anticipation ran high prior to that day. Her big moment was her 50th Birthday Party with food, dancing music, and lots of friends and relatives to help her celebrate. Thanks to all, who helped her celebrate that magic day.
