Alice Marie (Neirynck) Beernaert was born on July 2, 1919, in Minneota to Raymond and Marie (Van Paris) Neirynck. She grew up in Minneota. In 1941, she was united in marriage to George Beernaert in Marshall. To this union were born Joyce and Richard. After his military service, George worked as a painter in the Marshall area and Alice did laundry for many local business people. She also worked as a cook at Holy Redeemer School, and for many years as a Playground Attendant at West Side Elementary School. Alice was very social. She loved music and dancing, especially to big band music at the Blue Moon Ballroom and other local venues. In 1957, the family purchased a lake home on Lake Amelia. Alice loved spending time there, fishing, and hosting her family. Other enjoyments included playing cards and rolle bolle. In 2000, Alice moved to the Prairie View Healthcare Center in Tracy. She died there on Thursday, February 22, 2018. She is survived by her son Richard “Skinner” (and Nancy) Beernaert; son-in-law Bill Graffunder; grandchildren Craig (and Tammy), Karen (and Gary), Kris (and Dave), Brett (and Amy), Ryan (and Patti), and Marc; great-grandchildren Brandon (and Erica), Tyler (and Hannah), Sean, Aaron, Abby, Josh, Kayla, Chase, Corbin, Kendal, Bentley; great-great grandchildren Aubree, Ameliah, Lucy and Ella. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George, daughter Joyce and siblings Martha Pille and Al Neirynck.
